Detecting bird’s eggs in the diet of raccoon dog (Nyctereutes procyonoides)

چکیده

Diet studies of carnivores are often based on analysis prey remains found in scats or stomachs. In these analyses differences decomposition rate and the degree digestion item must be taken into consideration. raccoon dog diets, eggshells rarely found. This may due to three possible scenarios, which act combination: 1) dogs eat bird´s eggs wild, 2) without swallowing shell parts, 3) rapid swallowed eggshells, so that they only present briefly stomach contents. this study, feeding behaviour different sizes was observed under semi-natural conditions an enclosure dissolution time examined. Dissolution thicknesses tested experimentally using concentrations hydrochloric acid. The study showed a negative relationship between egg size/shell thickness amount ingested by dog. No eggshell, independent bird species, degraded beyond detectability after 12 hours acid at pH 3.3. A correction factor estimating mass eggshell (g) calculated from dry scat. Also estimated gastric is given. ranged 14 282 depending size. From it can concluded do ingest some detect stomachs dogs, suggesting lack diet samples probably reflects low proportion and/or preying more heavily large cracked open have their contents eaten, rather than small eaten shell-and-all.

Seasonal physiology of the wild raccoon dog (Nyctereutes procyonoides).
The raccoon dog (Nyctereutes procyonoides) is a canid omnivore with autumnal fattening and winter sleep. Farmraised raccoon dogs have elevated plasma leptin and growth hormone levels in the winter and depressed plasma cortisol and insulin concentrations during wintertime food deprivation. However, these parameters were not previously tested in the wild population. In the present study 37 wild r...
متن کاملCloning and identification of the ASIP gene in Chinese raccoon dog (Nyctereutes procyonoides procyonoides).
The quantity, quality, and distribution of eumelanin and pheomelanin determine a wide variety of coat colors in animals. Three coat color variants exist in farmed wild-type Chinese raccoon dog (Nyctereutes procyonoides procyonoides), which is an important fur-bearing animal species. The ASIP gene is an important candidate gene for coat color variation in some species. In this study, the complet...
متن کاملB chromosomes of the Chinese raccoon dog (Nyctereutes procyonoides procyonoides Gray) contain inactive NOR-like sequences
Application of the FISH technique with the human 28S rDNA probe on metaphase spreads of the Chinese raccoon dog confirmed the presence of the NOR sequences on three A autosome pairs and the Y chromosome. Moreover, NOR-like sequences were found on the B chromosomes in the telomeric region of the long arm and in the proximal half of these chromosomes.
متن کاملDevelopment and characterization of polymorphic microsatellite markers for Chinese raccoon dog (Nyctereutes procyonoides procyonoides).
Chinese raccoon dog (Nyctereutes procyonoides procyonoides) is one of the most important fur-bearing animal species. Information about the genetic background of farmed Chinese raccoon dogs is limited. In this study, 17 polymorphic microsatellite markers were isolated and identified from an (AC)n-microsatellite-enriched library of Chinese raccoon dogs. The number of alleles per locus ranged from...
